About Me

Hey, I’m Jo.

I’m a 26-year old writer who lives in Brisbane, Australia.

Jo Fraser Writes is a bit of a mess.

The photos aren’t great. Some are taken on my iPhone.

My writing has typos, is a wee bit overemotional, and changes style from week to week.

I try to travel with a floppy traveller-girl hat, but mostly it gets crushed in my bag.

Yet, here we are.

And you are SO welcome.

(Like, really, really welcome. Please read something.)

Ya see, this blog of mine was always intended to be a place where I can learn to write.

And hopefully, in my messy fumbling, I can help you travel a bit better.

Or at least entertain you.

In my wildest dreams, I hope this blog makes you travel ethically, sustainably, and meaningfully.

I promise I will never go to a full-moon party and write about it.

Nor will I ever go to a “Cultural Show and Dinner Extravaganza

and

You will probably never find me on a cruise.

(unless that shit is paid for- buffets, people, so many buffets)

This is not the blog for that.

  1. Hi Jo!

I just wanted to reach out and say “hey”, and that I really enjoyed your piece in the Huffington Post (which my god, is a great achievement, so congrats!).

I read every “I left it all to go travelling” article out there, and I completely empathise with your feelings upon reading about people’s fantastic adventures.

I fight the temptation every day to just “throw it all in”, though I must admit I still secretly want to try my luck!

It was refreshing to hear your stout, given that a great majority of those articles make it sound TOO easy, and in turn give people false expectations.

As you said, your experience was amazing, and even if it didn’t work out to plan it sounds like an amazing adventure. Plus, from that you got to have your work featured in the Huff Post, from that you must have got a lot of exposure, and look, here is a random person (me!) writing to you 🙂

I’m sure it’ll all come to you soon, you’re a great writer!

I’m trying out this blogging thing too! I moved from Sydney and am now living in Taipei. You can check out my blog at typingtotaipei.wordpress.co. if you’re interested.

Ok, hehe my quick hello turned into an essay as usual.

Good luck. I’ll be following your adventures from now on!
    -Monica.

  2. Hi Jo,

I would always support you and following you during all of times of your advantures step by step with day by day! 🙂

    Thinking of you, Jo! 🙂

  3. Hi, jo! Your story is inspiring. I wanted to be part of Nat Geo as well (but as a photographer). I’m working as office staff right now, but thinking of pursuing my dreams soon. I’m still saving for a decent camera though, so I just it will take time. But I hope, like you, will travel the world and yeah, be part of Nat Geo. Hehe!
    Keep it up!
